1°Outside Evening Essentials: Windows Open Again Tonight, Hot Wednesday With Rain/Thunder Overnight

Danielle says you can open up the windows again tonight as humidity will only gradually increase through the overnight. Wednesday features warm to hot air in place with humid conditions (though not oppressive) and a few thunderstorms possible, mainly after 6pm. Rain and embedded thunder does move in overnight Wednesday into very early Thursday before clearing the coast. Let’s break down the details…

Tonight’s Weather

  • Increasing Humidity: Humidity levels will be gradually increasing tonight. However, it will be a slow process, so you can still enjoy the fresh air by keeping the windows open.
  • Temperatures: Expect temperatures to drop into the 60s, around 70°F in southern New England.
  • Passing Showers: There might be a couple of passing showers in central and northern New England, but nothing significant.
  • Southwest Breeze: A southwest breeze will kick in tonight, continuing into tomorrow.

Tomorrow’s Forecast: Warm and Breezy

  • Wind Gusts: The southwest breeze will pick up, with gusts over 20 mph in spots of southern New England and 10 to 20 mph for the rest of the region.
  • High Temperatures: Expect highs well into the 80s, with lower 90s in some areas. In Boston, temperatures may reach 90-91°F.
  • Sun and Clouds: Most of the day will be sunny with building clouds, remaining storm-free until the evening.

UV Index and Beach Conditions

  • UV Index: High across the board, so make sure to apply sunblock if you’re spending time outside.
  • Beach Day: A great day to cool off at the beach with highs around 90°F and water temperatures in the 60s to lower 70s.
  • Rip Current Risk: Moderate risk of rip currents, especially on the outer portion of the Cape and along the south coast of Nantucket.
  • Wave Action: Expect wave heights of 2 to 4 feet closer to the coastline, increasing to 3 to 6 feet farther offshore and 4 to 7 feet south of Nova Scotia.

Evening Thunderstorms

  • Timing: Thunderstorms are expected to develop after beach hours in southern New England, generally late evening and overnight, a few of which could be on the stronger side pre-dawn on Thursday.
