Detailed Forecast

Thursday, July 4th:

  • Morning: Isolated showers possible.
  • Afternoon: Scattered thunderstorms likely. The storms will begin to gather energy from the west by midday and continue into the afternoon. By 7 PM, scattered showers and thunderstorms will continue cutting through the area due to a cold front slicing into the increasingly humid air.
  • Evening: By fireworks time, the overall coverage and intensity of the storms will have decreased, but a few showers may still be around. Temperatures will be in the 70s with high humidity.
  • Safety Tip: If thunder roars, go indoors. Lightning is nearby if you hear thunder, so take shelter in a building or car.

Friday, July 5th:

  • Morning: Rain likely in southern and eastern New England, breaking up by early to mid-afternoon.
  • Afternoon: Scattered showers and storms more likely in northern New England. On the Cape, showers may linger into the evening.
  • Highs: 80s with continued humidity.

Saturday, July 6th:

  • Scattered showers, downpours, and thunderstorms. Temperatures will be in the 80s.

Sunday, July 7th:

  • Morning: A cold front dies as it moves through, slightly reducing humidity but not bringing cooler air.
  • Afternoon: Temperatures will rise, making it warmer but slightly less humid for most areas. Near the South Coast, Southern Connecticut, Rhode Island, Southeastern Massachusetts, including the Cape, it will still feel sticky. Highs will again be in the 80s.
