The July 4th week is on our 14-day, which you can always find on our Noyes’ 1°Outside Weather app…but why does the forecast look the way it does? What could change? That context can help all of us understand the forecast and, as a result, be prepared for what might change. Matt Noyes has the insight.
14-Day Weather Forecast: Warmth, Cool Downs, and Holiday Outlook
We’re expecting a spike of warmth by midweek as a southwest wind brings in a brief ridge in the jet stream. This will allow temperatures to rise to around 90 degrees. However, a disturbance will bring a cold front, raising the chance of showers and thunderstorms by Wednesday evening, followed by cooler air.
Midweek Highlights:
The warmth will rebuild for the weekend as the jet stream shifts north, allowing heat from a high-pressure ridge in the southeastern United States to move in.
Weekend Outlook:
As we approach the 4th of July, we’ll see near or slightly above normal temperatures. The proximity of the jet stream will increase the chances of afternoon and early evening showers and thunderstorms.
Holiday Week Highlights:
Looking beyond the holiday, the pattern indicates a dip in the jet stream across the Northeast, which may increase the propensity for showers and thunderstorms. This setup could protect us from any tropical activity trying to develop in the Gulf or near the Bahamas.
