Happy Father’s Day Weekend, Dads! Although some spots are starting with a few showers Saturday, the overwhelming theme is “improvement,” from a gradually clearing sky to a palpable drop in humidity…and by Dad’s Day, New England’s weather will be beautiful!
Today’s morning showers for some are due to a jet stream disturbance that caused yesterday’s thunderstorms. However, improvement is on the way, especially from midday to early evening. High temperatures will be in the 70s, which is just a touch below normal for this time of year. The air will become more comfortable as the day progresses, with tonight’s temperatures dropping to the 40s in the north and 50s to 60s elsewhere.
Father’s Day promises great weather with high pressure moving over Nantucket, bringing in high-altitude wispy clouds that add texture to the sky without producing any rain. High temperatures will be extremely pleasant, and a variable wind will bring a sea breeze to the coastline, particularly in the afternoon. Sunday night will be cool with temperatures potentially dropping into the 30s in the North Country, but no frost is expected.
Monday morning will start off chilly, but it will warm up quickly. A collision of warm air from the southwest and cool, dry air will bring showers across northern and central New England, possibly reaching down to the Mass Turnpike. These showers will move along, leading to an improved afternoon. There might be another round of showers Monday night. High temperatures will start to rebound, with some areas in the north and west seeing highs in the 90s, particularly from Syracuse to Buffalo.
Looking ahead to Tuesday and beyond, we expect a significant warm-up. High temperatures may be capped in the 80s in coastal areas like Boston and Portland Tuesday with a sea breeze, while the rest of New England will see 90s. This heat will continue to build through Wednesday, Thursday, and likely into Friday. We’ll provide more updates on Sunday evening and Monday morning at 1DegreeOutside.com.
We hope you have a wonderful weekend and a very happy Father’s Day!
