1°Outside Weekend Edition: July 13-14, 2024

Showers, downpours and thunderstorms are swinging through for many of us today – be sure you have location Always On and Weather Notifications on with our Noyes’ 1DegreeOutside Weather app to be alerted for anything impactful in your area.  The rain will start drifting southeast to leave only scattered showers the deeper into the afternoon we go.  In Northern New England, there are fewer showers but renewed scattered thunder develops Saturday afternoon and swings south into the evening.  Although Sunday will still be humid, it won’t be quite as sticky, and that lowers the chance of showers for an excellent, albeit very warm, day.

Saturday Forecast: Rain and Thunderstorms

Today, the heaviest rain is moving through in the morning to early afternoon, causing isolated flooding in some areas. Here’s the breakdown:

  • Morning to Early Afternoon: Periodic heavy downpours and thunderstorms.
  • Afternoon to Evening: Showers continue off and on, especially in southern New England, but break apart. Thunderstorms develop in northern New England, particularly in the mountains and lakes regions.
  • Evening: Scattered storms may occur in southern New England due to the high humidity and a weak cold front moving through.

Temperatures for Saturday

  • Highs: Barely making it to 80 degrees in southern New England, with most areas in the 70s due to clouds and rain. Northern areas may get a bit warmer with some sunshine.
  • Overnight Lows: Dropping to the 60s, providing a bit of relief from the recent low to mid 70s.

Sunday Forecast: Bit Less Humid and Warmer

Sunday promises better weather with slightly reduced humidity:

  • Highs: Around 90 degrees, still hot but less humid than recent days.
  • Lows: Dropping to the 60s, possibly the upper 50s in deepest North Country valleys.

Looking Ahead: Early Next Week

  • Monday: Heat and humidity return with highs around 90 degrees. Chance of a pop-up shower.
  • Tuesday: Warm with a mix of sun and clouds, temperatures remaining hot.
