1°Outside Weekend Edition: July 20-21, 2024

It’s the weekend – and the weather across New England will be fantastic for the most part. Warm temperatures, fairly low humidity and mostly dry weather will prevail. A couple different disturbances will bring the chance of a few showers – and Matt highlights that risk in the 1°Outside Weekend Edition video, or if you prefer, in the blog below.

Today’s Weather Breakdown

  • Humidity: It’s creeping back to the South Coast, particularly tomorrow, where sea breezes will be more pronounced.
  • Clouds: Expect high-altitude, fibrous clouds overhead today.
  • Showers: Modeling shows a slight chance of light showers between noon and 3 PM in far southern New England. However, it’s more likely that showers will arrive from the Catskills into western New England later in the day and early evening.
  • Late Evening Showers: Showers will move east as isolated showers late in the evening and overnight.

Weekend Outlook

  • Cold Front: Another cold front is coming in from the north, providing a reinforcing shot of comfortable air. Expect a brief overnight shower in the North Country tonight.
  • Sunday: The front stalls out and blends with sun and clouds. An isolated shower may pop up between central New Hampshire and northern Massachusetts. Highs today will reach into the 80s with a blend of sun and clouds.
  • Western Southern New England: Watch for a late day or evening shower moving across the New York state line.
  • North Country: Tomorrow, the reinforcing cold front will keep temperatures in the 70s. In some places like Lake Memphremagog in Northern Vermont, the water temperature may be equal to or warmer than the air temperature.
  • Lakes Region: Expect mid-80s with water temps around 80-82°F.
  • Southern New England: Warmer tomorrow with sea breezes. Some lows may drop to the 40s in the North Country tomorrow night, with a comfortable night for most.
  • South Coast, Cape, and Islands: Humidity will build, reaching a dew point near 70 by the end of Sunday.

Looking Ahead

  • Monday: Most areas will still be comfortable, but humidity will increase by Tuesday, bringing an increased chance of scattered showers and thunderstorms.
  • Wednesday: A cold front will deliver more comfortable air toward the end of the week and next weekend. However, heat and humidity will likely build again towards the middle and end of the following week.
