As we move into the evening and overnight hours, changes are on the horizon. A cold front will be sweeping through from west to east, bringing cooler temperatures and a chance for a brief shower in some areas. Here’s what to expect as we head into the overnight hours and into tomorrow.
Tonight: Clouds, Mild Temperatures, and a Chance for a Shower
- Temperatures: We’ll stay mild tonight, with temperatures falling from the 60s to the 50s overnight. In far northern New England, some spots may dip into the 40s, but frost is not a concern tonight.
- Shower Potential: A brief shower is possible late this evening and into the first part of the overnight hours, especially in Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine. While there’s not a lot of moisture, you may see a few sprinkles early tomorrow morning, particularly in Eastern New England, including the South Shore and Cape Cod.
Tomorrow: Cooler Air and Gusty Winds
- International Space Station Flyby: For skywatchers, the International Space Station will be visible at 5:01 AM for a brief 1 minute, followed by another pass at 6:34 AM for 4 minutes. There may be some patchy clouds, but you’ll still be able to catch a glimpse in many areas.
- Temperatures: Highs will be in the 60s for southern and eastern New England, while northern areas will only reach the 50s, with temperatures dropping through the afternoon.
- Winds: Expect gusty northwest winds, 20-30 mph throughout the day, with a few gusts over 30 mph for Cape Cod and Eastern Maine. Winds will gradually decrease a bit during the late afternoon, but you’ll still feel that brisk fall breeze, making it feel cooler than it is – especially compared to the warm stretch we’ve been in!
