Weekend Edition: Summer Preview Saturday, Some Storms, Great Easter, Pleasant Patriots Day

We’re kicking off the holiday weekend with true spring warmth, as temperatures soar to near 80° in central and southern New England. That summer preview does come with some instability—so keep an eye to the sky today, especially late afternoon and evening, and be sure you’re keeping tabs on our 1DegreeOutside Weather App.

Matt Noyes breaks it all down in this Weekend Edition video, with everything from storm timing to what runners and spectators can expect for Marathon Monday.

Today’s forecast includes a few isolated showers around midday, mostly light and brief. The better chance of downpours and even a thunderstorm or two will come late afternoon and evening, particularly in northern New England. Thunderstorms may not be widespread, but where they form, localized heavy rain is possible.

Want to track it all? Matt recommends using the past + future mode on the interactive radar in the 1DegreeOutside Weather app, free on the App Store and Google Play. Turn notifications ON if you’re outdoors today—when thunder roars, go indoors!

🌷 Easter Sunday: Bright, Breezy & Comfortable

Once the cold front clears late tonight, cooler and drier air slides in. Easter Sunday looks beautiful: sunny skies with a west-northwest breeze gusting to 30 mph and high temps near or just over 60° in southern New England, 40s and 50s in the north.

👟 Marathon Monday: Ideal Running Weather

Expect sunshine early, increasing clouds late. A light sea breeze develops by midday. Temperatures along the route will start in the low 40s and rise to the 50s, with an afternoon high around 60° in the interior, but mid-50s in Boston thanks to the sea breeze. Humidity will stay low, and showers should hold off until Monday night—perfect conditions for runners and spectators alike.

🌤️ Looking Ahead

A shower or two Tuesday, but not a washout. Another dry, cooler air mass arrives midweek—spring is firmly in place.
