Sunday Evening Essentials: Wintry Cold Starts the Week for Us All! Snow Chance Wednesday Night/Thu.

As the weekend wraps up, a winter chill settles across New England, bringing lingering snow showers to the northern Green Mountains overnight. For areas with snow already on the ground, lows will plummet into the teens, while most of the region will see temperatures in the 20s under a clear sky. Matt Noyes tells us in Sunday Evening Essentials that we should probably get used to the cold…and be prepped for snow, for some. Full details in the video.

Monday’s Weather
Highs on Monday will range from 30 to 35 degrees in northern New England, with southern New England reaching a slightly milder 35 to 40 degrees. A weak disturbance moving in during the evening will introduce a few ocean-enhanced snow showers to the outer Cape. By Tuesday morning, a light coating of snow could accumulate in these areas.

Midweek Clipper System
The weather pattern remains cold and relatively quiet through Tuesday and Wednesday, but an Alberta clipper system arrives late Wednesday evening. These systems typically lack abundant moisture, but this one will pack enough energy to bring snow for many and rain for some.

  • Snow Timing: Snow likely develops Wednesday evening, continuing into Thursday morning.
  • Rain/Snow Mix Areas: Southeastern New England and coastal areas may see snow change to rain as milder air is drawn into the system on a southerly wind.
  • Snow Totals: A widespread 1-3 inches of snow is expected where snow falls, but central and northern Maine could see as much as six inches in some spots.

Looking Ahead
Temperatures will remain in the 30s throughout the week, reinforcing the winter feeling across New England. Another disturbance may bring snow on Sunday, and the colder-than-normal trend looks set to continue into next week.
