Monday night into Christmas Eve Day brings a round of at least a little snow for many, with more in Northern New England.
Tonight: A Frigid Evening with Spotty Ocean-Effect Snow
- Lows:
- Subzero: North Country, Pioneer Valley, and Route 2 corridor (e.g., Fitchburg) points north.
- Single digits: Most of the rest of Southern New England.
- Snow:
- Ocean-effect snow showers may develop overnight, bringing a coating to 1” on Cape Cod and Eastern Plymouth County.
- Isolated spots on the Cape could see up to 2”.
- Impacts:
- Be mindful of icy spots on untreated roads by morning.
Monday Night into Christmas Eve Day: Snow Returns
- Timing:
- Snow develops Monday night, moving into Northern and Central New England by 10-11 PM.
- Light snow and mixed showers in southern New England overnight into pre-dawn Tuesday.
- Most precipitation ends by midday Christmas Eve.
- Accumulations:
- 4-6” in northern New England’s higher terrain.
- 2-4” elsewhere in northern New England.
- 1-2” or less in central and southern New England, with mixed rain/snow on the South Coast and Cape Cod.
- Christmas Day:
- Flurries or snow showers possible late near the coast, but much of the day will be fine and dry.
