Friday 1°Outside Today/Noyes’ Notes: Deeper Warmth Triggers a Shower or Storm for Some

Today may feel like summer in parts of New England, but this early-season warmth is leading to a shot of rain. Meteorologist Matt Noyes walks us through what to expect over the next 24 hours in your Friday edition of 1DegreeOutside Today.

🌡️ Near 80°F Inland – Cooler at the Coast

Southern New England sees a full dose of warmth today with many towns away from the coast climbing toward 80°. But if you’re near the water? You’ll definitely feel the difference.

🌦️ Late-Day Showers Farther North

A few afternoon and evening showers are possible—especially in:

  • Central & southern New Hampshire

  • Central & southern Vermont

  • Southern Maine

  • Northern New England

These are on the leading edge of the warm air pushing northward. Southern New England should stay dry through this evening.

☔️ Saturday: Rain Arrives, Thunder Possible

Have the umbrella ready Saturday. Rain moves in during the morning and lasts through at least mid-afternoon.

Matt explains:

“If there’s a break in the action later Saturday afternoon, it may actually trigger a thunderstorm as instability builds.”

We’ll cover more on that timing and thunder risk in today’s Insights video, posting later this morning, or check out Thursday’s Insights, still up on our homepage and atop the homescreen of our app.

🌙 Overnight: Mild

Tonight stays mild thanks to that surge of warm air—most of us in the 40s and 50s.
