It’s a changeable weather day across New England. We’re starting with patchy fog and pockets of rain across the region, especially in western and far northern New England. But as Danielle Noyes explains in today’s Noyes’ Notes, skies will gradually dry out for many of us through the morning and midday. That sets the stage for a warm afternoon, with highs climbing into the 70s and even low 80s in some southern spots.
But with that warmth comes a late-day thunderstorm chance — especially in Vermont, western New Hampshire, and possibly into northern Massachusetts. These storms won’t be widespread, but they could bring brief gusty wind, downpours, and lightning between 3 PM and 8 PM.
⚠️ It’s a “be weather aware” kind of afternoon.
By tonight, leftover showers will taper. If you’re heading to Fenway Park for first pitch, conditions look decent in the city — warm to start, cooling into the mid 60s with the shower chance mainly staying to the west and north of Boston.
Looking ahead to Saturday morning: we wake up to mild temps in the 60s south, 40s far north, under a mix of clouds and sun. Patchy fog is possible along the South Coast. Full weekend details are coming up in our updated Insights video later this morning.
