Friday Evening: Storms and Showers

Today into this evening, we’re experiencing a complex weather pattern with two cold fronts slicing through warm and humid air. Dew point temperatures are expected to rise to between 65 and 70, fueling thunderstorms. These storms will bring scattered showers, downpours, and thunder into the night. There’s also a risk of isolated flash flooding due to these persistent downpours.

Saturday Morning: Still Showers for Some

By 8 AM Saturday, the jet stream disturbance will be just over Boston Harbor, keeping the chance of showers alive, especially in eastern New England. From the coast of Maine down through Boston and the Cape, showers might bubble up even through late morning or midday. However, the weather will improve in the second half of the day as drier air moves in. Dew points will drop, making the air feel more comfortable.

Saturday Afternoon: Clearing Up

Saturday afternoon will see lingering humidity in southeastern Massachusetts, but overall, the weather will be cooler and drier with temperatures reaching the 70s in many areas and upper 60s in the north. By late day, any remaining clouds or showers should clear out, setting the stage for a nice evening.

Father’s Day: Pleasant Weather

Sunday morning will start off chilly with temperatures dropping into the 40s in some parts of northern New England. However, the day will warm up nicely with high temperatures in the 70s, making it perfect for Father’s Day activities. Despite some wispy clouds, the day will remain dry and pleasant.

Early Next Week: A Brief Cool Down Before the Heat

Looking ahead to next week, Sunday night into Monday will be quite cool, with temperatures possibly dipping into the 30s in the North Country. While frost isn’t a major concern, it will feel chilly. By Monday, high pressure off the coast will bring a southwest wind, initially bringing clouds and a chance for showers, especially in northern New England. This pattern will quickly give way to better weather Monday afternoon, then perhaps another round of showers Monday night.

Mid-Week Heat Wave

As we move into mid-week, prepare for a significant warm-up. High temperatures are expected to reach the 80s and possibly 90s for many areas by Tuesday. Coastal areas might be a bit cooler due to sea breezes, but interior New England will definitely feel the heat.
