In our Friday “Insights” video – the deep-dive into the meteorology behind the forecast – Matt looks through the weekend and beyond and tells us exactly when to be prepped for gusty winds, showers and frost between today and next week. Watch the video and get all you need to know!
Weekend Outlook and Topsfield Fair:
The weekend is off to a fantastic start, with both Friday and Saturday looking great for outdoor activities and the Topsfield Fair! Sunday brings an increasing chance of showers, particularly in the afternoon, which may affect plans later in the day. Temperatures will be cooler by Sunday, but there’s still plenty to enjoy at the fair, both inside and outside.
Frost and Winds Ahead:
Frosty nights will ease for a bit, but expect gusty winds ahead, especially on Saturday morning, with gusts potentially reaching 40 mph in parts of New England. Saturday will still see highs in the 60s and 70s for southern New England, while northern areas will stay cooler. As the next cold front comes through, Sunday’s temperatures will drop, bringing cooler air and more widespread 50s across the region. Frost may return early next week, with potential frost deep into southern New England by Tuesday night.
Showers and Rain Details:
Showers will start to expand from the west on Sunday morning to afternoon, west to east, respectively, and by Sunday night, widespread rain is expected across much of the region. Gusty winds of 30-40 mph may accompany the rain, especially during the first half of Monday. Showers will taper off by the afternoon, giving way to a cool, breezy fall day on Tuesday with a blend of sun and clouds.
Looking Ahead:
After the rain clears Monday, cooler temperatures will dominate next week. Highs on Tuesday will be in the 40s and 50s, with frost chances increasing Tuesday night and into Wednesday. By midweek, some areas in northern and western Massachusetts may even see freezing temperatures.
