Weekend Highlights

  • Saturday:
    • Snow showers in the mountains and near the Great Lakes.
    • Highs: Around 30 in southern New England, 20s in the north.
    • Winds pick up from the northwest, adding to the chill.  Saturday night turns frigid with a stinging, subzero wind chill.
  • Sunday:
    • Coldest day so far this season: Highs in the teens north, 20s south.
    • Wind chills: Single digits in southern New England, near or below zero in the north.
    • Subzero lows Sunday night may lead to frozen pipes in poorly insulated buildings north.

Christmas Eve Snow Potential

  • Christmas Eve Day:
    • Accumulating snow likely in Northern and Central New England, but some of far Southern New England could see a mix with rain, especially near the South Coast.  Regardless, it’s a decent accumulating snow chance for many, even if not a big storm.
    • Exact timing will become more clear as we near the event.
  • Christmas Day:
    • A weak disturbance could bring scattered snow showers, particularly in the evening.

Looking Ahead

  • Next Week:
    • Temperatures rebound slightly, with highs in the 30s to low 40s.
    • Snow and rain showers remain likely with several disturbances in play.
  • January:
    • Cold air surges back after New Year’s, keeping a wintry pattern in place.
