Tuesday Insights: Light Snowfall for Cape/Islands, Cold Continues, Wind Abates In Days Ahead

Matt Noyes says the snow falling and accumulating along the Gulf Coast will mostly miss New England…but won’t miss all of us!  Cape Cod and the Islands see enough snow to squeeze out one to two inches of fluff overnight Tuesday Night, cleared out by Wednesday morning. Watch the video for all of Matt’s Insights through the weekend and a look to snow chances next week!

Snow Tonight for the Cape and Islands

A quick burst of light snow is expected to arrive over the Cape and Islands this evening, with accumulations of:

  • 1–2 inches: Nantucket and parts of Martha’s Vineyard.
  • Up to 1.5 inches: Areas near Chatham.
  • Coating to half an inch: Falmouth and areas north of Eastham.

This fluffy snow will taper off by 4 AM Wednesday. Areas farther north, like Plymouth and the Canal, may only see flurries.

Arctic Cold Grips New England

Daytime highs will struggle to break 20°F across Southern New England through midweek, with Northern New England remaining in the teens. Overnight lows will dip below zero again, especially in some northern areas, and wind chills will drop to 5 to 15 below zero in Northern New England and single digits south.

Looking Ahead: A Slight Warm-Up

Temperatures will begin to rebound by the weekend, with highs returning to the 30s on Sunday. Along with the slightly milder air, we’re keeping an eye on potential snow shower chances later Sunday…with a better chance of snow returning to the forecast next week.
