Matt & Danielle Noyes Connect With HAM Radio Operators, SKYWARN Volunteers at Northeast HamXposition

This past weekend, we had the honor of speaking at the Northeast HamXposition in Marlborough, MA – an event filled with energy, passion, and a shared commitment to protecting our communities through the invaluable work of the HAM radio operators and the SKYWARN weather reporting network.

For us, this was a chance to celebrate the unsung heroes who often work behind the scenes but whose contributions are felt far and wide. As we stood before a room full of dedicated volunteers, we couldn’t help but feel a genuine sense of gratitude for the tireless efforts these individuals put in to keep us all safe during severe weather events. HAM radio operators are often the first line of information, providing real-time storm reports that are critical for timely and accurate weather forecasts and empower meteorologists with confidence in what’s actually happening inside storms – helping us deliver the most precise information possible, while playing a vital role in saving lives and reducing property damage via preparation and expectation.

We were thrilled to see some familiar faces in the crowd and to reconnect with those who have been part of our journey over the years. The dedication and passion of the SKYWARN volunteers is truly inspiring, and it was a privilege to share our story of co-founding 1DegreeOutside, including a full transition out of broadcast television for Matt. We shared how this new venture allows us to continue our mission of delivering the best possible weather forecasts, while also embracing innovative ways to engage with the community.  We were moved by the warm reception and the personal stories shared with us afterward – your words of encouragement mean the world to us, and we’re grateful for the opportunity to connect with such a passionate community.

We call 1DegreeOutside “A Noyes Meteorology Collaborative,” and we truly believe in the power of many working together as one.  That’s why we’re excited about the possibilities of working even more closely with the HAM radio operators and creating a more connected, informed, and resilient community. Whether it’s through real-time storm reports, innovative weather technology, or simply a shared passion for the weather, we’re committed to supporting and growing these critical partnerships – we even unveiled an updating database through which the HAM radio operators can see storm reports and photos shared via our 1DegreeOutside Community Gallery page and via our Noyes’ 1DegreeOutside Weather app!

Thank you to everyone who attended our session at the Northeast HamXposition. Your dedication and enthusiasm are a huge pillar of support for the SKYWARN network, and we’re honored to stand alongside you in supporting that National Weather Service initiative.

If you’re interested in having us speak at your event or learning more about how we can support your community through tailored weather forecasts, please don’t hesitate to reach out. We’re always excited to share our passion and expertise of both weather and making major change to start a new venture, with those who have common vision.

Warm regards,
