Matt Noyes & Latoyia Edwards Reunite to Lead Record Fundraising for Zoo New England

Matt and Latoyia congratulate this year’s Young Conservationist Award Winner, Avalea Mulcahy.

It’s been a couple of months since 1°Outside’s Matt Noyes and NBC10 Boston/NECN’s Latoyia Edwards appeared side-by-side after 18 years of working together every day at the NBC-owned stations, but the former morning team meteorologist/news anchor tag-team was back at it this past Saturday evening.  The Franklin Park Zoo in Boston hosted “Zootopia” – the annual fundraising gala for parent organization Zoo New England, who also operates the Stone Zoo in Stoneham – and insisted Matt and Latoyia both return as Masters of Ceremonies with their fundraising magic.  They delivered!

Together, Matt Noyes and Latoyia Edwards led a fundraising evening topping $817,000 for the zoos.

The night raised a record $817,000 for Zoo New England, which represent critical funds in animal care, worldwide conservation efforts, endangered wildlife education programs and community programs in and around Boston.  Latoyia and Matt also honored this year’s Young Conservationist Award Winner, 12 year-old Avalea Mulcahy, who received a $2,500 scholarship to continue her work educating the public on reptiles, as well as authoring a children’s book!  For more information on Zoo New England, their programs and the Franklin Park & Stone Zoos, you can check out their website by clicking here!
