Monday Insights:
Midweek Storm to Bring Rain, Wind & Localized Flooding Potential

New England is in for a big weather shift this week! Cold air holds on today, but by midweek, 50s arrive along with rain & strong winds. The combination of snowmelt and rain could lead to localized flooding in central & northern New England, particularly near rivers and streams.

Tuesday: Milder Air Moves In

After a cold start to the week, temperatures will moderate into the 40s Tuesday, with a few light snow showers possible along the Canadian border.

Wednesday-Thursday: Rain, Wind & Flooding Concerns

An area of low pressure tracks through New England, bringing:

  • Mild air: 50s across most of the region, possibly 60°F in the south 🌡️
  • Rainfall: 0.5” to 1” across much of New England (locally higher west) 🌧️
  • Wind Gusts: 40-50 mph possible along the coast & in higher terrain 💨
  • Flooding Risk: Snowmelt + rain could lead to river rises & ice movement
  • The heaviest rain arrives Wednesday evening into early Thursday, before the cold front sweeps through, shifting winds and dropping temperatures late Thursday into Friday.

Late Week: Cooling Down Again

Behind this system, temperatures will drop back to seasonable levels, with highs in the 30s & 40s Friday. Gusty northwest winds will linger.

Weekend: Watching a South-Tracking System

A storm tracking south of New England could bring some rain & snow showers Saturday, but it currently looks minor.
