We’ve been tracking a cold front moving through Upstate New York, bringing with it some scattered showers, downpours, and even a few rumbles of thunder that will reach Western New England this evening. As the front slides east overnight, the showers will lose steam, leaving behind only a few scattered showers or an isolated rumble of thunder through the late evening.
By midnight, most of the rain will be concentrated in Western Massachusetts and Connecticut, with a few showers extending north. Overnight, we can expect the precipitation to taper off, and by the early morning, any lingering sprinkles will give way to a blend of sunshine and clouds to start our Tuesday.
Overnight lows will dip into the 50s for most of the region, with northern New England cooling down into the 40s, especially in northern Maine. Dew points will drop, leading to a cool and crisp start. Tuesday is shaping up to be another beautiful day, with plenty of sunshine, but cooler temperatures. Northern New England will stay in the 60s, central New England will see highs between 70-75, and southern New England will enjoy some mid-70s, with a light sea breeze kicking in along the coast.
If you’re heading out for a hike, conditions in the mountains will be perfect, with a west-northwest breeze at 10 to 18 mph. The UV index will be high, so don’t forget your sunblock! Lakes will be running around 70 degrees, while Cape Cod and other beach areas will experience temperatures between 70-75. Seas will range from 2 to 4 feet, with the outer Cape seeing the largest waves. Rip current risk is low, making it a great day to hit the beach.
