The wind will change direction nearly every day this upcoming week in New England, which means shifting temperature patterns, as well – enough to take us from 60° for some on Tuesday to snowflakes by overnight Wednesday night! Matt lays it all out – and gives an early look at weekend wind coming up – in our Insights video!
Spring warmth takes hold on Tuesday, thanks to a strong southerly wind that will push highs into the mid-to-upper 50s, with some areas hitting 60°F.
💨 Winds pick up in the afternoon, gusting 25-30 mph. This increases brush fire danger, especially given the dry conditions across southern New England.
By Tuesday night, a cold front moves in, dropping temperatures sharply in northern New England, where overnight lows will fall into the teens!
Wednesday stays mild with highs in the 40s and 50s, but the next system approaches at night. This system will bring scattered rain and snow showers, mainly north of the Mass Pike.
☁️ What to Expect:
By Thursday morning, temperatures rise, flipping any snow to rain before the system exits.
After the system clears, Thursday will rebound into the 40s, and Friday brings mid-50s back to southern New England.
A total lunar eclipse is happening late Thursday night, but cloud cover could be an issue.
Right now, forecast models show lingering clouds after the midweek system, but there may be a break between disturbances that could allow for some clearing, especially in northern New England.
We’ll continue to track this and update you as the week goes on!
The biggest story this weekend will be the wind. A powerful jet stream setup is expected to bring widespread 50+ mph gusts Sunday, with some areas potentially seeing gusts over 60 mph.
🌬️ Why so windy?
