Good Monday morning! We wish we had better news to start your week, but it’s a raw one across much of New England. As Matt said in today’s Noyes’ Notes, “it feels like the 50s all day because it is in the 50s all day.”
Rain is falling steadily in parts of southern and southwestern New England, and showers will keep pushing farther north as the day goes on. Central and northern Maine, as well as far northern Vermont and New Hampshire, will escape most of the wet weather — at least today — but rain fills in across nearly the entire region by tonight.
Here’s what to expect:
Heaviest rain: Connecticut, Western Mass, and parts of Southern New Hampshire
Lightest rain: Cape Cod, the Midcoast of Maine, and the North Country
Patchy fog: Developing again overnight, especially in valleys
Temps: Stuck in the 50s today, with wind adding to the chill
By Tuesday, we’re still not drying out. Rounds of rain are expected to continue, with another 1–2 inches of rain falling over the next 24–36 hours. That means river levels will be on the rise — and in some places, we’ll be watching for potential flooding by midweek.
We’ll get deeper into that in our Insights video later this morning, so be sure to check it out at 1DegreeOutside.com or atop the home screen of the app. Our Pattern Predictions video (our 2-week outlook) is also on the way today.
Stay warm, stay dry, and keep the rain gear close by!
