Monday Insights:
Temporary Taste of Spring to End the Month

This week brings a temporary taste of spring to New England, with above-normal temperatures and some rain showers to dodge along the way. However, don’t put away the winter gear just yet—colder air will make a comeback this weekend, and we’re watching for potential rain and snow by Saturday.

Tuesday: Clouds, Rain, & Mountain Snow

A cold front sweeps through the Northeast on Tuesday, bringing mostly cloudy skies and scattered rain showers for central and western New England. In the higher elevations of northern Vermont, northern New Hampshire, and northwest Maine, wet snowflakes will mix in by late afternoon into the evening.

Most of southern New England stays dry, but a rogue shower can’t be ruled out. By Tuesday night, skies clear out, setting the stage for some overnight refreezing in the interior—watch for slick spots Wednesday morning.

Wednesday: Clearing Out, Lingering Mountain Snow

Expect sunshine to return for most of New England by morning, though some stubborn clouds will hang near the coast. Snow showers continue in the northern mountains early, with a fresh coating to an inch or two of snow possible in higher elevations.

Temperatures stay mild, with highs in the 40s to lower 50s, even in typically cooler northern spots.

Thursday: The Wettest Day of the Week

A storm system moves through on Thursday, bringing widespread rain showers to central and southern New England. Higher elevations up north could start with snow before changing to rain as another push of warm air arrives.

Some areas could see pockets of steady rain, but this isn’t a washout—just a day to keep the umbrella handy!

Friday: Cooler Air Returns

As the cold front pushes offshore, expect a shift to a northwest wind, bringing cooler air back into New England. Upslope snow showers will continue in the mountains, while the rest of the region sees seasonable highs in the 30s north, 40s south.

Weekend: Watching a Possible Rain & Snow Mix

A disturbance moves in Saturday, bringing a mix of rain and snow depending on its exact track. This doesn’t look like a major system, but colder air is returning, so some areas may see accumulating snow.
