The weather for New England this week will feature several key changes, including mountain snow, gusty winds, and frigid wind chills. Here’s what you can expect:
For ski enthusiasts and winter sports lovers, upslope snow will continue through Wednesday night in the mountains of northern Vermont, northern New Hampshire, and parts of Maine. By midweek, favored spots like the northern Greens and the White Mountains may see 6–8 inches of fresh snow, perfect for skiing and snowmobiling.
Wind gusts, while not as extreme as last week, could still hit 30–40 mph in exposed areas, potentially affecting some summit chairlift operations.
Tuesday and Wednesday will feel particularly cold, with daytime wind chills in the teens for much of New England. Overnight wind chills will drop into the single digits for many Tuesday night and Wednesday night. By Thursday, winds ease and shift to the southwest and temperatures begin to moderate, setting the stage for a more seasonable Friday with highs in the 20s north and 30s south. Snow chances are slim through Thursday, but a few snow showers may push through later Thursday as a weak disturbance slides overhead.
Then…things could get interesting! Matt has a look at the pattern over the next 2 weeks later today, so be sure to check back.
