After a bitterly cold start to the week, with subzero temperatures in northern New England and single digits & teens elsewhere, we’re in for a big warm-up by midweek. Highs will climb into the 40s Tuesday, then 50s Wednesday & Thursday, but that warmth won’t come quietly—it will arrive with strong winds & rain and localized flooding potential.
After a frigid overnight, Monday will bring plenty of sunshine, but temperatures will remain below normal—teens north, 20s-to low 30s south. The good news? Winds will ease significantly, making it feel less harsh compared to Sunday’s gusts.
The warm-up begins Tuesday, as highs climb into the 40s across much of New England. A southwest wind will start pulling in milder air, and northern New England may see some light snow showers, especially in the mountains, where a coating to an inch or two is possible.
By Wednesday, a strong southerly wind will bring even milder air, pushing temperatures into the 50s across much of the region. However, this system will also bring rain and gusty winds, with the heaviest rain likely arriving Wednesday evening into early Thursday.

Behind this system, colder air will return, bringing temperatures back down to slightly below average levels for the end of the week. However, another warm-up appears likely by early next week: so hop on the temperature roller coaster.
