It’s a mainly quiet Sunday evening, though clouds increase tonight with a few icy patches developing on anything untreated as temperatures drop into the 20s. Monday starts cold, with morning temps in the 20s, but rises to the upper 30s and lower 40s by afternoon. Northern areas will reach the 30s. Clouds increase throughout the day, and scattered snow showers develop in western New England by during the afternoon, moving east through the evening. These snow showers may briefly lower visibility and create quick coatings, particularly either side of the Mass Pike and in northern and western areas. Keep an eye on our interactive radar during the 5-10pm timeframe especially.
The colder air returns Tuesday, bringing highs in the 20s across northern New England and near 30 in the south. Winds will pick up, gusting 25–35 mph, with isolated 40 mph gusts possible. Wind chills will make it feel like the teens in southern areas and near zero in the far north.
The mountains will see upslope snow showers Tuesday and Wednesday, with totals of 4–6 inches in the Green and White Mountains and localized 6–8 inches on the highest peaks by midweek.
The end of the week sees a slight moderation in temperatures, with the potential for light snow showers later Thursday as another weak, fast moving system approaches. Beyond that, we’re monitoring a pattern change that could bring more frequent snow chances into next weekend and early next week.
Stay tuned for Monday’s Pattern Predictions video, where we’ll break down the long-range outlook for the next two weeks. As always, you can find real-time updates on the Noyes’ 1DegreeOutside Weather app, free on the App Store and Google Play.
