Thursday Insights:
Santa Ana Winds, Major Snowstorm & Some Minor Accumulation Here at Home

Danielle shares the latest forecast insights, including a look at the catastrophic fires in southern California and a major winter storm pushing east across the southern Plains in the video.  Here at home, as the weekend approaches, we are gearing up for a minor snowfall event Friday night into Saturday. This system will primarily graze the region, with snow beginning late Friday night, peaking Saturday morning, and tapering off by early afternoon.

What to Expect:

  • Snow Amounts: Light snow will likely leave a coating to 1–2 inches for most of Southern New England, with slightly higher totals of 2–4 inches in parts of Northern New England due to upslope snow showers.
  • Timing: Snow starts Friday overnight, continues into Saturday morning, and tapers midday. Some lingering snow showers may persist in Maine and Eastern New England into Saturday afternoon. Overall this system is minor and fairly disorganized.
  • Impacts: Slippery spots are possible, especially Saturday morning into early afternoon.

Winds and Temperatures

While the biting wind that’s dominated this week will ease slightly on Friday, gusts of 20–30 mph will still add a chill to the air. Highs Friday will be in the mid-30s for Southern New England, with lows dropping to the teens and 20s overnight. By Sunday, sunshine returns, with highs in the mid-30s south and 20s in the north.
