Thursday Insights:
Weekend Weather…Rain, Snow, and Strong Wind for New England

As we head into the weekend, New England’s weather will feature a mix of rain, snow, and gusty winds, with some improvements especially by Sunday. Here’s what to expect:

Friday:

  • Pockets of rain will fill back in at times, tapering off after midnight.
  • Higher elevations above 1,500-2,000 feet in the Berkshires, Green Mountains, and White Mountains may see wet snow mixing in by evening, with minor accumulations.
  • Highs will range from the 40s to lower 50s, with a raw feel due to gusty south winds up to 30 mph that will shift to the southeast and ease later in the day.

Saturday:

  • Lingering pockets of rain in the morning to early afternoon will taper off, leaving some breaks of late day sun in spots.
  • Expect a brisk day with gusts of 25-35 mph and isolated gusts near 40 mph, particularly in hilltops and coastal areas.
  • Snow in the mountains will taper off, but a few slick spots may be present in far northern New England, mainly with elevation.

Sunday – The Pick of the Weekend:

  • Quieter overall with more breaks of sunshine, though upslope snow showers will continue in northern Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine.
  • Highs will range from the mid-40s to around 50, but wind gusts regionwide 25-35 mph with some gusts to 40 will give it a blustery feel with some isolated pockets of wind damage.

Looking Ahead:
Monday brings brighter skies and seasonable temperatures, a welcome change to start next week.

Travel Note:
Drivers in higher elevation areas should remain cautious of slippery roads, especially Friday night into Saturday morning.

Patriots Forecast:
If you’re headed to Miami – or at least interested in Sunday’s Pats vs. Dolphins game – players and fans will see bright sunshine and temperatures in the mid-70s with a light breeze.
