Wednesday Insights:
5 Days, 2 Storms.
Here’s What We Know…

New England is bracing for a complex winter weather setup over the next several days, with a mix of freezing rain, rain, and snow Friday, followed by another potential storm Sunday night into Monday.

Thursday Night – Friday: Freezing Rain to Rain South, Snow North

The next storm system arrives late Thursday night, bringing a mix of precipitation.

  • Southern New England (Boston, Providence, Hartford):
    • Friday AM: Freezing rain possible inland (Worcester Hills, Pioneer Valley, northern CT) before temperatures warm above freezing and changeover to rain.
    • Friday PM: Rain continues with gusty winds.
  • Central & Northern New England (NH, VT, ME):
    • Friday AM: Snow begins in northern NH/VT/ME, with a few inches of accumulation possible. Stay tuned for accumulation map tomorrow!
    • Friday PM – Overnight: Some areas could see freezing rain if the cold air holds on longer, then a flip back to snow on the tail end.

Key Concern: If the freezing line stalls, ice buildup could become an issue for interior NH, central VT, and western MA.

Saturday: Dry but Breezy

After the storm moves out Friday night, Saturday will be dry but chilly with highs in the 20s to near 30°F, feeling like the teens with a gusty wind.

Sunday Night – Monday: Accumulating Snow

A new storm system arrives late Sunday into Monday, bringing a better chance for widespread light accumulating snow even in southern New England.

  • Early Outlook: Snow begins Sunday late in the day, continuing into early Monday AM.
  • Still Uncertain: Track and intensity will determine snow amounts.
  • Potential Impact: Monday morning commute could be slick!
