Let’s be honest: today’s weather isn’t doing us any favors. Between the raw ocean wind, steady rain expanding from the west as the day rolls on, and that lingering chill in the air, it feels more like mid-March than May.
Rain is slowly sliding from Western to Eastern New England, with the heaviest downpours and possible thunder focused across Connecticut, Western Mass, and Southern Vermont this afternoon, then swinging east this evening. Even if it’s dry early where you are in the morning, that won’t last all day unless you’re in Central and Eastern Maine (and until late afternoon on Cape Cod) – so definitely keep the raincoat and umbrella close.
With the wind off the ocean, “feels like” temperatures this afternoon only land in the 40s for many. A raw, damp day all around.
We’ll catch a brief lull overnight, but another round of rain redevelops Saturday morning. That means a damp start to the weekend. The good news? There is some late-day improvement, especially inland. We’ll cover the updated timeline in our Insights video later today.
Sunday is a whole different story — sunny, mild, and perfect for celebrating Mom. Temperatures will climb into the 70s for many, with a few 80s possible early next week as dry air and sunshine take over.
