At 1°Outside, we believe weather is more than a forecast – it’s a lifeline. And your real-time observations aren’t just inspiring…they’re essential!
Matt and Danielle have each – and together – always been committed to supporting the greater weather community in New England. In founding 1DegreeOutside, it was critical to both of them this venture serve in a capacity to both inform and enrich the lives of New Englanders looking for quality weather information and real science, while also steadfastly supporting fellow meteorologists dedicated to keeping citizens safe. That’s why we’re excited to announce a new partnership with the Southern New England Amateur Radio Skywarn Network, thereby supporting both the National Weather Service (NWS) Boston/Norton office and the broader Southern New England community.
Now, when you submit a storm report or photo through our app or website, it’s automatically relayed to the Skywarn Amateur Radio coordination team, who vet the reports and forward them to NWS meteorologists. Your observations could help inform faster, more accurate warnings – and keep your neighbors aware and safe.
When it comes to 1DegreeOutside, you can report whatever you want! From great rainbows or fun in the snow, to optical phenomenon, unusual cloud formations and storm damage – we see it all, and it all helps us to tell the New England weather story.
When it comes to reports that the Southern New England Amateur Radio Skywarn group will file for their database and relay to the National Weather Service, that’s more specific – in fact, you can click here to find out what reports they’re looking for and how to report them in a way that will help most.
