This Insights video from Matt – the deeper dive into the meteorology driving the forecast – is designed to take you through the next several days, as our Insight videos always do. With a huge dome of high pressure building in, fair weather will be the rule, but some late Monday showers are possible. Seas are set to quiet behind departing weekend swell and rip currents.
Happy Sunday evening, or Monday, depending on when you’re reading this! Aside from some late Monday into Monday evening scattered showers with an embedded downpour, we have a beautiful stretch ahead, with fair weather dominating through much of the week. Expect comfortable air, low humidity, and lots of sunshine, with only minimal rain chances on the horizon.
A large dome of high pressure is settling over the eastern U.S., keeping deep atmospheric moisture at bay and locking in pleasant conditions for most of us. There is a chance for some pop-up showers on Monday afternoon as a jet stream disturbance moves overhead, but don’t expect much—if you miss the rain Monday, you won’t see any for quite a while! Water conservation might be worth considering if your irrigation or water supply is dependent entirely on rainwater, as dry weather will stick around in some spots for a week…if not longer!
Highs on Monday will reach the 70s across most of the region, though spots in northern Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine will stay in the 60s. The chance of pop-up showers, with an embedded downpour here and there, increases by late afternoon and early evening, but they’ll be scattered. By midnight, the showers will clear out, giving way to another surge of dry air overnight.
Tuesday and Wednesday will bring even more sunshine, with highs in the mid to upper 70s on Tuesday and creeping into the 80s by Wednesday and Thursday. Nights will be cool, especially in the valleys of northern New England, where temperatures may dip into the 30s Tuesday night, while most of us will drop into the 40s. The week continues with dry, sunny conditions, perfect for outdoor plans or taking advantage of the lingering summer warmth.
By the end of the week and into the weekend, the pleasant weather sticks around, with barely any chance of rain through Sunday. Humidity will gradually increase as we approach the middle of next week, bringing a higher chance of showers and warmer-than-normal temperatures, continuing the pattern flip we talked about earlier in the month.
