Did you notice a slight dip in humidity today? It wasn’t much, but it did make a bit of a difference. Here’s what you need to know for evening plans and as we kick off the work week…
Tonight’s Weather
- Storms: We’re storm-free this evening, with just a passing shower in Vermont tonight.
- Temperature: We drop into the 60s to lower 70s overnight.
Upcoming Heat Wave
The big story for the next several days is the upcoming heat wave. A combination of heat and humidity will bring us to dangerous levels.
- Heat Risk: Tomorrow’s heat risk is in the major category for all areas shaded in red. This trend continues through the middle of the week.
- Highs: Expect highs of 90 to 95 degrees in central and southern New England, without factoring in humidity. In far northern New England and along the South Coast, highs will be in the 80s.
Monday’s Forecast
- Pop-Up Thunder: A pop-up thunderstorm is possible, hit or miss. With this much heat and humidity, it doesn’t take much to trigger a storm.
- Mountains: Chance of an evening thunderstorm tomorrow, so keep an eye out.
- Heat Safety: Hydration is key! Wear lightweight, light-colored clothing, seek shade when you can, and find air conditioning if possible.
Lake and Beach Conditions
- Lakes: Light chop tomorrow, with a high UV index.
- Beaches: There’s a 30-40% chance of a thunderstorm towards evening. The wind will be from the south-southwest at 5 to 15 mph. Rip current risk is low, so a dip in the water can bring some relief from the heat and humidity.
