Sunday AM Update…little change to our thinking from video last evening with Matt (linked here if you missed it) regarding heaviest snow, sleet & freezing rain zones today. Snow forecast seems to have been on track overnight and should hold for northern areas today. Heaviest sleet zone (~1″ of sleet on top of the snow) indicated in deep orange brings continued treacherous travel. Heaviest glaze from freezing rain in deeper purple brings travel problems + elevated outage chance. Additional rainfall today (*rain* only in green image, not total of all precip types) will cause pooling of water in many spots thanks to drains freshly clogged from overnight snow and sleet. Heaviest rain rates 3P-6P, rumble of thunder not impossible, especially South Coast. Two snapshots of predicted max gusts. First is through 9 PM – note the surge of southwest wind on Cape Cod, that comes 4-9 PM. Cold front then crosses New England & we steadily/gradually ramp up west wind overnight gusting 40+, then to 60 Monday. Scattered outages, particularly where glaze remains to add further strain to limbs & lines.
