As clouds roll in tonight, expect patchy fog to develop and temperatures will drop into the 50s. Some low-level moisture may cause a few patches of drizzle, particularly in eastern areas of southern New England, so don’t be surprised if you see some light drizzle overnight.
As we move through the overnight hours, clouds will continue to increase, especially after midnight. Far northern New England will remain largely exempt, continuing with clear skies. By morning, many areas will be mostly cloudy, but patches of blue sky may break through, providing some moments of sunshine throughout the day.
We can’t rule out the possibility of a brief shower or two, especially in areas such as southern Maine, Southeast New Hampshire, the North Shore, Merrimack Valley, Metro West, and even Boston. These may appear from time to time during the late morning and afternoon, but don’t worry, it won’t be a washout by any means.
Tomorrow’s highs will vary with the coolest temperatures at the coast and mildest inland. The Champlain Valley may reach up to 80 degrees, while most of the remainder of the region will fall between 72-78, coolest at the coast with an onshore wind.
In fact that northeast wind will bring gusts of over 20 mph on Cape Cod, thanks to an ocean storm sitting off to our south and east.
If you’re planning any outdoor activities tomorrow, expect lots of clouds and some breaks of sun. The farther north you go, the more sunshine you’ll see, especially in the mountains where the UV index will be high. In the Lakes region, temperatures will settle around the lower 70s, with light chop on the water. For the ocean and beaches, though, expect waves to build to about 4 to 7 feet on the National Seashore and Outer Cape, and 2 to 4 feet elsewhere. There will be a moderate to high rip current risk along the Outer Cape and South Coast, so be mindful if you’re heading out to the beach.
A few patches of drizzle may linger through the afternoon in spots, but again, it won’t be enough to spoil any outdoor plans. Just a quick wiper-on-wiper-off situation for those brief moments of drizzle.
