As we head into the long holiday weekend, tonight’s weather is setting up to be quiet and comfortable across the region. Expect mainly clear skies with temperatures dropping from the 60s into the 50s, and even into the 40s overnight, particularly in northern New England. The air will remain pleasantly crisp with low humidity, making for a comfortable night.
Friday’s Outlook:
For Friday, most of New England will enjoy a beautiful day with plenty of sunshine and slightly cooler-than-average temperatures for late August. Coastal areas will see highs in the lower 70s, with upper 60s to low 70s on Cape Cod. The only area with a slight chance of rain is far southwestern New England, where an isolated shower could pop up in the afternoon, with a few downpours possible in southwestern Connecticut late in the day.
Outdoor Activities:
If you’re heading to the mountains, expect summit temperatures around 60 degrees with a southeast wind at 10 to 20 mph. The UV index will be high, so don’t forget the sunscreen if you’re spending time outdoors. On the lakes, temperatures will hover in the low to mid-70s, with water temps starting in the upper 60s before warming up. Beachgoers can look forward to light winds, a low rip current risk, and wave heights around 2 feet, making for a pleasant day by the water.
