Insights always goes out through the next several days and Matt Noyes delivers our weekend details – but starts with tonight, when there may be some frost farther south than we’ve seen it so far this season. Matt also looks out at a building chance of Sunday showers and the likely expansion of frost next week. In the meantime, Matt and Danielle will be looking for you at the Topsfield Fair, where they’ll be in front of the Flower Barn today and Friday from 10 AM to 2 PM, then again Saturday in the late day into the evening. Come out and say hello!
Hurricane Milton Recap:
Hurricane Milton brought significant impacts to Florida, with over 18 inches of rain in some areas, widespread flooding, and millions left without power. As the storm moves offshore, we’ll monitor any potential ocean swells making their way to New England by the weekend and provide a full update in our Coastal Marine Forecast tomorrow (Friday).
Weekend Overview & Topsfield Fair:
Friday looks fantastic for outdoor plans, and Saturday should be mostly dry and pleasant, but cooler air arrives later in the weekend. Sunday’s afternoon to evening chance of showers is rising, so keep updated with our forecasts in our videos and on our Noyes’ 1DegreeOutside weather app, and there’s a possibility they’ll linger into Monday morning, though they should clear out early. If you can, plan outdoor activities for Saturday to make the most of the favorable weather. The Topsfield Fair continues through Monday, and Danielle and I will be there today, tomorrow, and Saturday. Come say hello!
Frost & Temperature Update:
Tonight will be another chilly night, with the potential for frost in some areas of southern New England, including towns like South Coventry, Connecticut, and Wilbraham, Massachusetts. Temperatures will dip into the 30s in these spots, so keep an eye out for frost! Friday and Saturday will see a brief warm-up with highs in the 60s and 70s for southern New England, but cooler air will start filtering in on Sunday, especially in northern regions.
Looking Ahead:
After a milder start to the weekend, cooler air settles in on Sunday, with a chance of showers in the afternoon, particularly in western New England. Monday will feel distinctly cooler, with highs barely reaching 50 degrees in northern areas, setting the stage for another frost event early next week. By Tuesday, snowflakes are even possible in the higher elevations and frost may occur deep into Southern New England Tuesday night, depending on how strong the shot of cool air ends up.
