Thursday Insights:
Weekend Weather Timeline

We’re tracking an active weather pattern through the weekend, with the greatest impacts expected Friday night into Saturday morning. While this won’t be a total washout, it certainly won’t be a pretty weekend—especially early Saturday, when snow will mix in across parts of interior New England.

Friday Starts Active, Then Calms
A mix of rain and wet snow arrives Friday morning—especially outside of I-495 and in the higher terrain of Vermont, New Hampshire, and western Massachusetts. Any accumulations will be minimal on warmer roadways, but flakes may fly even in the hills of southern New England.

By midday Friday, showers fizzle and we may even sneak in a break or two of sunshine. After-school activities and Friday evening plans look mainly dry across much of the region.

Friday Night into Saturday: The Main Event
Another round of rain and snow arrives Friday night. Wet flakes will mix in across the interior and higher elevations, with limited accumulation on colder or grassy surfaces. Saturday morning brings a raw start with rain and elevation snow falling across New England.

The steadiest rain tapers during Saturday afternoon in southern areas, though lighter showers may continue. Eastern and northern New England may hold onto occasional rain into Saturday night and Sunday.

Sunday: Not a Total Washout
Sunday trends drier, especially for central, western, and northern New England. That said, eastern Massachusetts—particularly the South Shore and Cape—may still see pockets of rain, with the steadiest near the coast.

Snowfall & Rainfall Outlook
Accumulating snow will be confined to elevations:

  • Southern Vermont & Northern Berkshires: 3–5″
  • Southwest NH & White Mountains: 1–3″

  • Worcester Hills: Coating to 1″ possible

Rainfall totals:

  • Through Saturday AM: 0.10–0.25″ for many, up to 0.5″ south coast.

  • Through Sunday: 0.50–1.00″ across southern New England

  • Localized 1″+ possible on the Cape and South Shore, less far north
