Thursdays Noyes’ Notes/1°Outside Today: Decreasing Humidity Today, Bit Chilly Tonight

After a wild night of severe storms, including a tornado warning in southern New England, we’re in for a much quieter day today as we clean up from some of the damage. Here’s what you need to know…

Today’s Weather: Rain Ending, Humidity Decreasing

  • Morning Rain: The rain is pushing offshore, and the sun will break out as the day progresses.
  • Decreasing Humidity: Humidity levels will drop throughout the day, making it feel more comfortable.
  • Isolated Storms: Be aware that there may still be a couple of isolated pop-up storms, particularly in northern New England due to a secondary cold front. These storms are not expected to be severe.
  • Temperatures: Highs will range in the 70s to lower 80s in southern New England. A west-northwest breeze at 10-20 mph, occasionally gusting higher on the Cape.

Tonight’s Weather: Clear and Chilly

  • Clear Skies: Expect clear skies tonight, which will allow temperatures to drop significantly.
  • Low Temperatures: Widespread lows in the 40s to lower 50s in southern New England. Some suburbs north and west of Boston may dip into the upper 40s.
  • Colder Spots: Far northern New Hampshire, the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont, and northwest Maine may see temperatures drop into the upper 30s.

Looking Ahead: Beautiful Friday and Unsettled Weekend

  • Friday: Expect a beautiful day with plenty of sunshine and highs in the 70s for many, 60s in far northern New England.
  • Weekend Outlook: Downpours and thunderstorms will return, especially by late Saturday and into Sunday. It won’t rain all weekend, but there will be some periods of action. More details will be provided in the insights video later today.
