Tuesday Insights: Cool Midweek Showers, Warmth Returns This Weekend

An upper level low will continue to pinwheel spokes of energy into parts of New England through midweek, keeping a threat for some showers around, particularly in northern areas. Cooler than normal temperatures will remain in place, with a return to more summer like warmth by Friday and especially the weekend. Danielle takes a detailed look at what’s in store over the coming days.

Dew Point Forecast: Comfort Continues

If you’ve been enjoying the crisp, fall-like air, you’re in luck! The dew point is set to stay low for the next few days, keeping humidity levels in check. As we move towards the weekend, the humidity will start to creep up slightly, but nothing too oppressive. By Sunday and into early next week, you’ll notice a bit more moisture in the air. However, by Labor Day weekend, another drop in dew points is expected, bringing back that fresh, comfortable air.

Midweek Weather Breakdown:

  • Wednesday: We’re dealing with an area of low pressure just northeast of Maine, with little bursts of energy spinning down into New England. This will mean a mix of sun and clouds throughout the day, with the highest chance of scattered showers in Vermont, northern New Hampshire, and northwest Maine. While most of Southern New England will stay dry, there is a slight chance for an isolated shower or brief downpour, particularly along the Massachusetts-New Hampshire border in the evening.
  • Thursday: The low pressure system remains overhead, leading to additional cloud cover and a few more showers, especially across Maine. An isolated thunderstorm can’t be ruled out in the far north, but overall, it won’t be a washout. Expect temperatures to remain cooler than normal, with highs ranging from the 60s to lower 70s.
  • Friday: We’re looking at a beautiful end to the week! The low pressure shifts east, loosening its grip on the region. This will bring more sunshine and slightly warmer temperatures, with highs in the mid to upper 70s. It’s shaping up to be a pleasant day with humidity still in check.

Looking Ahead to the Weekend:

  • Saturday: High pressure to our south will start to bring in warmer air. Expect sunshine with some high thin clouds filtering through in the afternoon. Highs will be near or just above 80 degrees, with a light west wind that may turn into a sea breeze along the coast in the afternoon. The weekend is looking fantastic, with mostly dry weather and comfortable conditions.
