Tuesday Insights: Splendid Weather Set to Return By the End of the Week

Clouds are more numerous in the New England sky Tuesday and Wednesday, though raindrops are scarce and will remain that way.  Matt Noyes says sun – and warmth – will return for the end of the week, just in time for an incredible Opening Day at the Topsfield Fair!

Topsfield Fair Kickoff: Warm and Dry for Opening Day

The Topsfield Fair kicks off on Friday, and we couldn’t have asked for better weather. Expect temperatures in the 70s with a southwesterly wind helping to bring in warmer air. The weather will be perfect for opening day, making for a great start to the fair.

Looking ahead to Saturday, there’s a 40% chance of scattered showers, but that chance is trending downward as we get closer to the weekend. While a quick-moving shower can’t be ruled out, we’re not expecting anything significant to impact outdoor plans. Sunday also looks good, with temperatures in the 60s to low 70s and generally dry conditions.

Midweek Weather: Clouds and a Sprinkle Possible

Wednesday brings a cold front from the west, but it’s not very impressive in terms of rainfall. Most areas will see a lot of clouds and maybe a sprinkle in the morning or afternoon. There’s a higher chance of a late-day shower in northern Vermont, but for most of us, it’s just a passing spritz of rain. High temperatures will be in the 60s, with overnight lows in the 40s to 50s.

Thursday looks much better, with sunshine returning and temperatures rebounding to above 70°F. A south wind will help bring warmer air back to the region, and by Friday, we’ll see temperatures back into the mid-70s, setting up a beautiful day to kick off the fair.

Weekend Outlook: Scattered Showers Possible

Looking ahead to the weekend, Saturday brings a slight chance of scattered showers, especially in northern New England, but it’s not a big deal. Most of central and southern New England will stay mostly dry with highs near 70°F, though you may want to play it safe if you have important outdoor events like a wedding and keep the tent in the plans for now – we’ll let you know if that changes in the next day or two. A quick-moving cold front could bring a passing shower, but it’s unlikely to linger.

By Sunday, expect another dry and pleasant day, with temperatures in the 60s at the coast and low 70s inland. It’s shaping up to be a lovely early October weekend overall.
