Tuesday Noyes’ Notes/1°Outside Today: Localized Flooding Risk & A Positive Note on the Rain

Danielle Noyes has with your Tuesday morning update from 1DegreeOutside…and let’s just say it — if we could control the weather, this stretch would look a lot different!

Unfortunately, we’re locked into a gloomy, soggy pattern for a few more days. That said, there are a couple silver linings:

  • 🌿 Tree pollen levels are getting knocked down — allergy sufferers, rejoice (at least briefly)

  • 💧 Drought conditions are likely going to improve thanks to this wet weather

What’s Coming Today?

Today brings another round of on-and-off rain, with the heaviest downpours expected across interior New England — think central and western MA, the Berkshires, Litchfield Hills, and parts of CT and RI. That’s also where we could see 1–2″+ of rainfall, with localized amounts of 2–4″ in spots. Urban and poor drainage flooding is likely and hydroplaning will be a concern too with standing water and big time puddles in spots. Localized flash flooding is a possibility.

As this moisture shifts east, eastern MA and NH will get in on the action during the evening commute.

After that? Scattered showers overnight with some brief lulls, and another batch of showers fills back in Wednesday — but it’s not a total washout.

Thursday: Our Pick of the Week

Looking for a dry window? Thursday is your best bet, with a lull in the storm train and some breaks of sun — grab it while you can, because…

Friday-Saturday: More Rain Ahead

Another low pressure system looks likely to bring more rain Friday into Saturday, before we maybe turn the corner in time for Mother’s Day. We’ll keep an eye on that and give updates as the timing becomes clearer.

Overnight tonight: 50s for most, 40s up north. No frost concerns this time around.

🎒 Don’t forget: keep the umbrella in the kids’ backpack and the rain shoes at the ready.
