Some pockets of rain and showers in eastern New England Thursday morning will depart, giving way to increasing sunshine and a notable drop in humidity throughout the day for most of the region. A beautiful stretch of summer weather sets up for Friday through the weekend with lower humidity, bright skies, warm temperatures and mostly dry conditions. Danielle has everything you need to know in the video, or read below for all the details.
Thursday’s Forecast: A Breath of Fresh Air
Cold Front Brings Relief
- A cold front sweeps through the region with scattered thunderstorms Wednesday afternoon and evening.
- The front will linger from the coast of Maine to Cape Cod early Thursday morning, meaning it will take a little longer for the drier air to work in for those areas. This also means a lingering shower in the morning in eastern New England, possibly lasting until midday to early afternoon on Cape Cod and far Down East Maine.
- By the afternoon, the sun breaks out and the dew points continue to drop, turning it into a pleasant day overall.
Temperature and Humidity
- Highs: Mid to upper 80s, 75 to 80 in northern New England.
- Dew Points: Starting at 65 to 70 in the morning, dropping through the day and into the evening. It will take all day and into the overnight for Cape Cod to see some relief.
- Nighttime: 50s and 60s with a West Northwest breeze, generally 5 to 10 mph. Open up the windows and let the fresh air in!
Friday Through Sunday: Perfect Summer Days
Friday’s Forecast
- It’s warm but will feel much better with lower humidity. Expect a classic summer day with mid 80s, lots of sunshine, and low humidity. Doesn’t get much better than that in July in New England.
- Nighttime: 50s and 60s for another very comfortable evening for sleeping.
Weekend Outlook
- Saturday will see some high thin clouds but remains dry with a West Southwest breeze. Sea breezes should kick in on Friday and maybe again on Saturday.
- Temperatures: Borderline hot this weekend, climbing back into the mid to upper 80s, but most areas won’t hit 90.
- Sunday: 70s in far northern New England as a cold front comes in and may spark an isolated shower.
Healthcast
- Humidity: Comfortable and low.
- UV Index: Very high, so make sure to put on the sunscreen and reapply if you’re going to be outside.
- Air Quality: Good.
- Bug Forecast: The intense humidity and heat have brought out many bugs, but there will be a little less overall with the “cooler” weather.
We’ll keep you posted on the threat for severe weather today and go live as necessary over the course of the afternoon and evening.
