It’s a generally quiet evening and night across the Northeast, with cool temperatures and low humidity. A few showers along the south coast will expand east overnight, but most of us will be dry. Thursday features a nice day for outdoor activities and plans for northern, central and parts of southern New England – though an expansion of showers and late day downpours will mean some raindrops to dodge by evening. Tonight’s Forecast
Temperatures are running in the 60s for most of us, dropping into the 50s overnight. There will be some cloud cover in southern New England, but most areas will stay dry. , There’s the chance of a shower along the South Coast. Let’s break it down:
- Northern New Hampshire and Northern Maine: Cool temperatures dipping into the mid-40s.
- Southern New England: Low 60s with increasing clouds, particularly along the South Coast, where isolated showers may develop after midnight. This could expand east along the coastline of Rhode Island and southeastern Massachusetts.
Tomorrow’s Outlook
Tomorrow morning will start with breaks of sun through a lot of clouds. The farther north you go, the more sunshine you’ll see. Here’s a detailed look:
- Morning: Maybe a shower or two in Connecticut.
- Midday: Passing showers expanding northeastward, but most areas will remain dry.
- Late Afternoon and Evening: Showers and a few downpours will expand along and south of the Mass Turnpike and into northwestern New England. Central and northern Vermont will see pockets of downpours and showers during the evening hours. Farther east will stay mostly dry through the evening in Maine and eastern NH.
- Temperatures: 70s to low 80s
Outdoor Activities
- Mountains: A blend of sun and clouds with valleys in the 70s. UV index will be high.
- Lakes Region: A chance of an evening shower, but mostly dry during the day with a light southeast breeze and a moderate to high UV index.
- Beaches: Not a perfect beach day, but the morning and early afternoon will be mainly dry. Expect a few showers later in the day. Rip current risk is low with mid-afternoon high tide and 2-4 foot waves.
