Our chilliest day of the season is set for Thursday in New England, and that’s accompanied by frost for at least some of us, says Matt Noyes. Matt also gives an update on Hurricane Milton for those with loved ones or property in Florida.
Hurricane Milton Update
As Hurricane Milton approaches Florida, severe wind damage is expected, especially along the west-central coast. The storm is projected to bring damaging winds exceeding 100 mph and a storm surge of 12 feet or more between Sarasota and Port Charlotte. Heavy rain, up to a foot, will cause significant flooding, and tornado risks remain high for the state. The storm will cross Florida by Thursday morning and re-strengthen as it heads back out over the ocean.
New England’s Forecast
Closer to home, New England experiences cooler air this week as a jet stream trough opens the door to chillier Canadian air. Tomorrow will be the coldest day, with high temperatures in the 40s and 50s across the region. Snowflakes or raindrops may appear in northern New England tomorrow morning, but the rest of the area remains dry. Friday and Saturday look great, with temperatures climbing into the 60s and even touching 70 in southern areas.
Weekend Preview
Sunday brings increasing clouds, and there is a chance of rain sneaking into western New England by the afternoon, though the Patriots game looks mostly dry for now. Keep an eye on the chance of rain for your location via our Noyes’ 1DegreeOutside Weather app, in case the incoming disturbance should speed up, raising the chance of rain earlier in the day for more of New England. Temperatures will feel distinctly like fall, with highs in the 50s and the possibility of frost during the cooler nights, particularly in northern and western New England.
Patriots Game & Topsfield Fair Forecast
At the Topsfield Fair, running through October 14th, the weather looks excellent overall, with only a slight chance of scattered showers late Sunday or, more likely, Sunday night into Monday.
Don’t forget to download the Noyes’ 1DegreeOutside Weather app for the 14-day forecast and updates as we move through this cooler, more active weather pattern.
