Hi everyone, Danielle Noyes here with your Wednesday Noyes’ Notes — and today’s one of those classic spring days in New England. You know the kind: a cool-ish start, a couple breaks of sun, and suddenly the sky pops with scattered downpours and maybe even a few rumbles of thunder.
Here’s what to expect:
As colder air aloft moves in and upper-level energy swings through, we’ll be watching for showers and a few thunderstorms. Nothing widespread or severe, but you’ll want to keep an umbrella handy.
Any breaks of sunshine? They may actually fuel storm development by midday into the afternoon. So yes, a little bit of sun can lead to more active weather in a setup like this.
In fact, with enough cold air aloft, some of the stronger storms may produce pea-sized hail — especially in central, western and northern New England. We’re not expecting anything damaging, but it’s definitely a day to stay weather aware.
Morning: Spring jacket time — it’ll feel like the 50s
Afternoon: Highs near 70 in southern New England
Evening: Showers gradually diminish, with drying beginning west to east
South coast and southeastern New England should stay mostly dry today, while areas farther north and west will see more active skies.
We clear things out tonight — no frost concerns — with lows in the 40s and 50s.
Tomorrow? A dry commute looks likely in the morning, though clouds will be on the increase quickly ahead of our next weather maker. That system will bring more rain by late Thursday night into Friday.
