Weekend Edition! Snow Returns As More of New England Becomes Winter Wonderland

New England’s winter sports season is off to a great start, with snow-covered mountains and more on the way! Whether you’re skiing, snowboarding, snowmobiling, holiday shopping, visiting or just laying low, here’s the breakdown for what to expect this weekend with Matt Noyes, in our Weekend Edition video!

Saturday Night into Sunday Morning:
The Berkshires have seen snow Saturday morning, but otherwise a quick burst of snow will sweep across New England tonight, wrapping up early Sunday morning. For many, this snow will be gone either side of sunrise (a bit later ending in Northern New England), but it leaves behind early slick roads and new accumulation.

  • Snow Totals:
    • Southern New England: coating to 3 inches; a mix or rain near the South Coast.
    • Western Massachusetts & Berkshires: 3-6 inches in higher terrain.
    • Northern New England & Mountains: Generally 3″-6″ but over the entire weekend, 8-12 inches for northwest-facing slopes due to upslope flow.

Sunday Afternoon:
While most areas will be dry, snow showers and squalls linger across the mountains of northern and western New England, especially along the western and northwestern slopes of the Green and White Mountains.

Looking Ahead:

  • Monday Evening into Tuesday: A new system brings snow to northern New England and a wintry mix to the interior south.
  • Wednesday Storm: Rain in southern New England, with northern areas still in play for accumulating snow but certainly could be rain.

Weekend Temperatures:

  • Saturday Highs: 30s for most, 20s in northern New England.
  • Sunday Highs: 40s south, 30s north.
  • Sunday Night Lows: 20s for most, teens in colder spots.
