Weekend Edition! With Snow Departing, a Marvelous Sunday To Be Outdoors

After delivering updates Saturday for the snow, now we can fully pivot to the rest of the weekend in this Weekend Edition video with Matt Noyes…and Matt says Sunday looks wonderful for winter sports and outdoor plans, as long as you’re prepped for a seasonable feeling.  Matt also looks at a change in the pattern that better favors snow, starting next weekend – and makes it clear with the precipitation chance forecast.

Snow Wrap-Up and a Look Ahead to Next Week’s Weather

As snow winds down tonight across New England, we turn our focus to the week ahead. While this storm wasn’t a major snowfall event, it’s still important to watch for slick spots as temperatures drop below freezing, especially on untreated roads.

Tonight:

Snow ends across Cape Cod between 7–9 p.m., but areas that saw snow…and on Cape, rain, earlier today before ending as snow will need treatment as temperatures drop to the 20s. Local roads that were treated during the day may see reduced effectiveness as the cold deepens, leading to black ice in spots. Northern New England dips into the teens tonight, with clearing skies bringing drier air.

Sunday:

A gorgeous winter day is on tap for Sunday, with sunshine dominating and temperatures climbing into the mid-30s to around 40 in southern New England. Central and northern areas will reach the 20s to low 30s. The best news? Lighter winds mean no chairlift wind holds, making it a great day for skiing, snowboarding, or just enjoying the outdoors.

Monday Night Snow Showers:

A disturbance arriving Monday night will bring snow showers to northern and western New England, particularly in the mountains of Vermont and northern New Hampshire. While southern New England is less likely to see snow from this system, we’ll keep an eye on any changes.

Pattern Shift Next Weekend:

For snow lovers hoping for something more substantial, the long-range pattern starting next weekend looks more favorable. While it’s not a guarantee of big storms, it does increase the chance of precipitation across New England, giving us better odds for snow in the coming weeks.
