Weekend Edition:
“When Thunder Roars,
Go Indoors” Applies Saturday & Our App Can Help You Out!

It’s a weekend of contrast across New England, and the dividing line is a front that just doesn’t want to move.

Saturday kicks off with summerlike warmth — highs in the 80s across parts of southern New England, while northern areas already begin to feel cooler air moving in. Along the front, thunderstorms, heavy downpours, and even a stray strong to severe storm are possible during the afternoon and early evening. You’ll want to keep the app handy for alerts and to track storms in “past + future” radar mode.

Overnight Saturday into Sunday, the front stalls over central New England, bringing additional rounds of rain and occasional thunder. It’s not a washout, but there will be showers, especially the farther north you are.

Sunday brings a big change. Cooler northeast winds take over, and highs tumble into the 60s — even 50s for some — with showers blossoming once again. Heading to Gillette for the Sunday night concert? Bring a jacket — and maybe a raincoat, too, just incase – though the risk of wet weather is higher the farther north you go.

This pattern is a classic spring setup: a slow-moving upper-level low spinning to our west, high pressure trying to nose in from Canada, and a battle of air masses leaving New England right in the middle.

We’ve still got some unsettled weather in the cards through early next week. Monday’s highs will struggle to hit 50 in some areas, with showers sticking around.
