Storm Timeline & Impacts
- Saturday Afternoon & Evening: Dry during the day, with increasing clouds. If you have evening plans, travel should be fine before 8 PM.
- Saturday Night (8 PM – Midnight): Snow moves in from west to east, reaching Boston around 9:30 PM, Cape Cod by 10 PM, and central Maine by 11 PM-midnight.
- Midnight – 4 AM: The storm’s peak intensity, with snowfall rates of up to 1” per hour in the deeper blues on radar.
- Mixing Concerns:
- South Coast & Cape Cod: Some sleet and light freezing rain may mix in.
- Mass Pike Area: A brief mix is possible but will quickly turn back to snow.
- Sunday Morning (6 AM – 10 AM): Snow tapers in intensity, back edge for many by 10AM or so.
- Sunday Afternoon: Leftover flurries, coastal snow showers possible, especially on Cape Cod.
Snowfall Totals
- 8-10”: Widespread across much of southern New England, including Metro West.
- 6-8”: South Coast, South Shore, and the eastern tip of Essex County.
- 4-6”: Cape Cod.
- 2-4”: Vineyard & Nantucket.
- 3-6”: Widespread across Northern New England with localized 6-8”
- Lower totals: Across far central and northern Maine.
Wind & Coastal Concerns
- No major wind or coastal flooding issues.
- Winds will gust 30-35 mph along the South Coast and Cape overnight, with an isolated 40 mph gust possible.
- Interior New England will see blowing and drifting snow with gusts of 15-25 mph.
Cold Air Behind the Storm
- Sunday Wind Chills: Teens and 20s – cold but manageable for cleanup.
- Sunday Night Lows:
- Single digits & subzero in northern areas.
- Teens in southern New England.
- Monday: Highs in the 20s to low 30s with a 10-15 mph breeze.
- Monday Night: Even colder – subzero in northern areas, single digits & teens elsewhere.
Looking Ahead: Another Storm Chance?
- Tuesday: Clouds increase as the next storm system moves up the East Coast.
- Tuesday Night: Some light accumulating snow is possible in southern New England, but the extent of snowfall is uncertain.
